Genuine Culture Review

Write for us

Genuine Culture Review welcomes considered pitches about customs, objects, language, foodways and symbols. We are looking for clear, original work that gives a reader a fresh way to notice cultural meaning without pretending that one account speaks for everyone.

What makes a good pitch

A strong proposal names its subject, explains the central question and shows why the angle suits this publication. Tell us what the reader will understand or notice by the end, what context the piece needs, and how you would handle differences in practice or interpretation. Specific, well-bounded subjects usually make stronger pitches than broad surveys.

What we welcome

We consider reported essays, explanatory features and close readings of a particular custom, object, expression or shared occasion. Contributions should be original, carefully phrased and accessible to general readers. Please flag uncertainty, contested interpretations and any limits in the material you can draw on.

How to send a proposal

Send your proposal through the Contact page, choosing the editorial option and including a working title, a short outline and a brief note about your approach. Please do not send a finished full-length piece unless it has been requested. A submission is not a promise of publication.
